  • We need this.

Our end-of-summer women's weekend retreat is going to be a wonderful opportunity for us to disconnect from all the noise in the world and connect with ourselves and each other. It is designed for every woman, not for one niche or type of woman. The only requirements are mutual respect and kindness. That is my purpose, to bring all women together in a peaceful atmosphere. We will be 'glamping' at the Kalopa Park cabins on the Hamakua Coast, so it will take us back to our childhood days of sleepovers while, at the same time, serving a new purpose to instill a sense of friendship and belonging as women...something greatly needed. As we constantly adjust to an ever-changing world, we need each other now more than ever. We all deserve to be happy. This retreat serves that purpose, and it also gives us a chance to breathe, literally, in the fresh air of a gorgeous forest. The price is set very low (too low if I'm being honest, as I am finding out quickly with advertising!) to meet the needs of the community. I am super excited about this beautiful retreat, and I would love for you to join me. Michelle

  • Aloha Wild Women

I'm so excited to invite you to our Wild Women Sisterhood Summertime Retreat on August 25 through August 27, 2023! This is a chance for us to connect with nature, with each other, and with ourselves. We'll be led in meaningful ceremony by Andrea, exploring the trails with Shae, and Sharing Circles with me. Shae will inspire the beginning of your day with morning meditation, while I'll prepare you for deep sleep with our evening meditation. We'll sing, play, craft, dance, laugh, cry, and perhaps howl together under the forest canopy. If you've been to Kalopa Park, you know it's a special place with beautiful forest scenery and good energy. I especially look forward to sharing the cabins together because it takes us back to the joy of childhood slumber parties while, at the same time, sleeping in the same space envelops us with the magical comfort of knowing we are not alone. This strengthens the sisterhood and ignites lifelong friendships. To top it all off, we'll enjoy delectable vegetarian meals together that will be freshly prepared in the house by Chef Sarah from Green Living. I hope to see you there! Love, Michelle

  • Q&A | Wild Women Hawai'i

Questions & Answers Where will we sleep? There are 4 shared cabins with 8 hostel-style beds in each cabin. The spacious European hostel-style rooms have plenty of space between the beds for extra privacy. You can also bring a tension rod and pareo, curtain, or other lightweight fabric with clips for added privacy and to create your own cozy space for your bunk, if you wish. I have special dietary needs. Will I need to bring my own food? Our chef will prepare our meals for vegetarians, however, she will adjust individual meals to suit special dietary needs (ie: allergies, vegan, gluten-free, etc.) if you inform us ahead of time when you book so we can plan ahead. Is bedding included? You will need your own bedding. We recommend a pillow and a sleeping bag or warm blanket. Each bunk has a thick waterproof mattress pad. We recommend bringing an extra pad and/or comforter to sleep on for maximum comfort and coziness. What should I bring? A welcome packet will be emailed in early August with a packing list and any further information you will need. Can I come alone? Absolutely! The retreat is designed for women traveling alone or with friends to strengthen our island 'ohana and build a state-wide sisterhood. You will surely make life-long friends quickly, however, there is no pressure. Your personal space will be respected if it is peace and quiet you crave. There are plenty of private nooks for you to bask in the peacefulness of nature as well. Can I share my special talent or offering at the retreat? We will have 'pop-up' space for guest sharing at a specified time during the retreat. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer to share your talent or offering. • Location | Wild Women Hawai'i

Location The Kalōpā Native Forest State Park is a state park with an arboretum of native trees located approximately 40 mi northwest of Hilo, near the village of Honokaʻa, a few miles inland from the Mamalahoa Highway section of the Hawaii Belt Road, Island of Hawaiʻi, Hawaiʻi. Kalōpā Park Located on the upcountry, windward slopes of Mauna Kea, the Park gets a significant amount of rainfall. This rainfall creates an enchanting and lush native forest that preserves the endemic Hawaiian ecosystem as it existed before contact with man. Respect the Land Most of the plant species in the Park were on the island before the first Polynesians discovered and settled Hawai'i. Park rules require that we leave the wildlife and their habitat undisturbed, and that we leave all plant life undisturbed. We cannot cut trees, and we cannot have open fires. Where permitted, reasonable quantities of fruits and seeds may be gathered for personal use. Weather At over 2,000 feet in elevation, the park is cooler than coastal/makai destinations. August is typically a warmer month. Although you won't likely be cold, it does get chilly and you might want to bring a sweater for the nighttime. As always on the Big Island, rain is possible. Directions Whether coming from the north or south end of the island, just look for the “Kalopa State Park” sign while driving on Hwy 19, make a turn, then follow more signs (with pointing arrow) as you drive uphill along the paved Kalopa Mauka road. You will go past several picturesque farms and horse ranches. The park is at the end of this road. Address: 44-3480 Kalaniai Rd, Honokaa, HI 96727 For our off-island Kamaʻāina, the nearest airports are (approximately): 16 miles to Waimea-Kohala Airport (MUE / PHMU) 45 miles to Hilo International Airport (ITO / PHTO) 52 miles to Kona International Airport at Keāhole (KOA / PHKO)
